Jeny Cassady has been getting friendly with puppets for over 25 years as puppet designer, builder, performer, on-set coach, teacher, and director. Two time Jessie Richardson award winner, Jeny trained with respected professionals from around the world in mask performance, acting, clowning, marionette, hand and rod puppeteering, animatronics, and received a BFA with distinction from University of Victoria. Her puppets have been featured on stages across BC, on the web, and in numerous independent films. Skilled in the manipulation of many styles of puppetry, her performances can be seen on stage, and in many film and television productions. Most recent appearances include: Mary for ABC’s Imaginary Mary, Arts Club’s 3 year run of Avenue Q, Axis Theatre’s award winning Somebody Loves You Mr. Hatch, and Henson’s Turkey Hollow. Jeny wishes to encourage the enrichment of puppetry arts in Vancouver and enjoys mentoring, volunteering, and engaging in causes that promote puppetry arts, help build the puppet community, or make puppetry more accessible to the public. She is proud to be one of the founders of the Vancouver International Puppet Festival, and invites everyone to come see, play, learn, and explore all things puppet at the next festival, happening October 2018.
