RATTLE MAKING WORKSHOP

CA$0.00

2 sessions with Jay Havens

Embrace this opportunity to work with 2Spirit artist and educator Jay Havens (Haudenosaunee-Mohawk) for a remote learning circle and rattle making workshop. Yes, you will make your own traditional rattle! And, while learning to assemble your own rawhide rattle, Jay will also encourage us to examine ideas of gathering, community, memory, and storytelling.

Over two sessions, Jay will share a variety of rattle making techniques, take everyone through the hands-on process of assembling the rattle, with additional artistic suggestions to make this experience unique to the individual. The whole experience will touch on traditionalism, indigenization, and inclusion by looking at the resilience of art-making practices. Given time, we can even make some music together!
