“Somebody Loves You, Mr.Hatch” FAN MAIL
We just received this note from a Newcomer Mom about her child's memory of Imperial Theatre, thanks to your team and Mr. Hatch:
“My daughter attended the show when she was six years old. It was the first time she took a field trip from school, and it was her first time at the Imperial Theatre. Even nowadays, two years later, her memory is still fresh and reflects how impactful this activity was in her life.
She remembers the bus took them from school and the Theatre was packed. The place seemed huge and majestic in her 6-year-old eyes. She remembers the ambience, the sound of her classmates laughing and the “mystery” of the play (in her own words).
It was a funny puppet show. In general, my daughter was impressed by the three individuals who played all the puppets’ roles: the owner of the grocery store, his daughter, the post lady, the lady in the park, among others.
In the first scene, there is a guy who appears very sad, but suddenly, he receives a love letter with a box of chocolates that is distributed among people in the town. Nevertheless, the post lady tells him that it was a mistake, that the letter and the box of chocolates was not for him, and he has to give them back, otherwise, she will lose her job. But the man says that is impossible because he distributed all of them. He realizes that even though it was not for him, he made a lot of people happy with a kind action and a simple chocolate.
I aimed to recount the entire storyline to illustrate the profound influence of a program designed to make arts and culture accessible to children. Even two years later, she can vividly recall those details, despite not yet mastering the English language.
It was her first visit to the Imperial Theatre of many more. It’s her favorite art and culture venue within the City in a place she now calls home.”
